Fred Eason’s story is a powerful testament to redemption, resilience, and purpose. Sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, Fred spent 36 years behind bars. During that time, he discovered his faith in God and uncovered a deep passion for painting.
With the support of HeartBound Ministries, Fred successfully reintegrated into society after his release. Today, he has come full circle—returning to prison not as an inmate, but as a mentor. Through HeartBound Ministries, Fred teaches painting to incarcerated youth, using art as a bridge to healing, hope, and transformation. His journey is a living example of how faith and creativity can restore lives and inspire change.

Recently, Disciples Make had the honor of attending Fred’s first solo art show at Luca Gallery in Atlanta. His Disciples Make documentary was screened for a crowd of supporters, and we had the privilege of capturing the event through photography. The show was a beautiful testament to God’s faithfulness, reminding us all that it is never too late to share your art and your story with the world.

Fred’s journey reminds us of Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

As artists, it can be easy to feel overlooked or undervalued. But Fred’s story is a powerful reminder that when we honor Christ in our work, He will guide our paths and use our creativity for His Kingdom.
